Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
One of the most sought after sets of the 1980’s, O-Pee-Chee’s 1986-87 hockey card release, featuring a checklist of 264-cards included the key rookie cards of names such as Patrick Roy, Wendel Clark and John Vanbiesbrouck as well as numerous stars, including the likes of Lemieux, Gretzky, Yzerman, Messier and many more. Offered here, and sure to become a conversation piece for your collection is this 132-card uncut sheet from O-Pee-Chee’s 1986-87 set. Measuring out to approximate dimensions 28 ½” x 42 ½”, Including all three of the set’s key rookie cards as well as the key star cards of Lemieux and Gretzky in the bottom row with Steve Yzerman present four (4) row’s above, the sheet avoids major flaws such as rips, stains and creases over both sides though the front is impacted at the far right and through the middle by long pink magenta streaks that likely occurred during the printing process. Of note, the pink toning at the far right is worse than what is seen in the middle but the one in the center of the sheet does affect the Wayne Gretzky card worse than others in the row. Additionally, also included is a 1991-92 Upper Deck 100-card uncut proof sheet. Featuring names such as Hasek, Hextall, Vanbiesbrouck and Hatcher among others, the cyan coloured sheet displays no names or the backs of the cards and remains in excellent condition with no obscene flaws to mention while measuring out to approximate dimensions of 26” x 35”.
