Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/14/2022
The most anticipated hockey series ever played in the history of the game, Team Canada was expected to roll all over the Soviets but quickly found out that was not to be the case after being shocked in game 1, dropping the contest by a final score of 7-3 with Valeri Kharlamov scoring a pair of goals in the victory. Hailing from that first contest is this lot containing a ticket stub as well as a seldom seen ticket exchange certificate. The stub, measuring 1 ¾” x ¾”, is typically what would be returned by Montreal Forum ticket takers after entering the building after their full ticket would be torn. The stub shows a handful of creases and toning with two red marks on the back. The exchange certificate, redeemable for a coveted pair of tickets to game 1, measures roughly 2 ¾” x 5 ¾” and remains in excellent condition. Sporting light toning with a small mark near the bottom on both the front and back as well as light corner wear, two holes have been punched into the left side of the slip. Rounding out the lot is an official series program produced for each of the four games played in Canada. Displaying the flags of both participating nations and the original $2 price, the program remains in stunning high grade condition with just light surface, edge and corner wear along with a small spot on the front to note. Sticker residue is also seen at the bottom left corner on the back cover. Additionally, the program has been signed by Paul Henderson and Vladislav Tretiak on the front cover with flawless blue ink signatures.
