The NHL All-Star squad formed for the league's first official All-Star Game in 1947 was truly worthy of the honor. Offered here is a rare original Turofsky print of the official team photo of the NHL All-Stars taken at Maple Leaf Gardens prior to their game against the defending Stanley Cup champion Maple Leafs on October 13, 1947. A total of 15 Hall-of-Famers suited up for the NHL All-Stars, coached by Dick Irvin, including Brimsek and Durnan in goal, and Stewart, Bouchard, Quackenbush and Reardon on defense. HOFers featured up front included Richard, Lindsay and Laprade along with Chicago's Pony Line of Mosienko and the Bentley brothers and Boston's Kraut Line of Schmidt, Bauer and Dumart. In fact, the Rangers' Grant Warwick, who scored the All-Stars' second goal in a 4-3 win, and Tony Leswick are the only members of the team who are not in the Hall. "Photo by Turofsky Toronto" is stamped on the back of this fantastic 8" x 10" original print, with pen notations reading “All-star game” and “front row at end Dick Irwin” also seen. The photo still displays good visual appeal with scratches to the surface while creasing is seen at the edges and corners along with pinholes and a long diagonal fold/crease through the middle of the photo. The back shows toning around the edges with spotting seen as well.
