Featuring two of the NHL teams to produce Stanley Cup dynasties, the Montreal Canadiens took on and defeated the Edmonton Oilers, 4-3, at the 2003 Heritage Classic played at Commonwealth Stadium, on Nov 22, 2003. In addition to seeing an outdoor hockey game between the Oilers and the Canadiens, the wind-chilled crowd of 57,167 were treated to an exhibition game pitting the Habs' legendary alumni against an all-star squad of Oilers greats headed by Wayne Gretzky. The Great One has signed this beautiful 23 ½” x 19 ½” Heritage Classic canvas image in blue marker over the bottom part of the image with the autograph displaying well with subtle lightening in areas. Mounted underneath a blue velvet matte outlined with brushed gold, the entirety of the piece is housed in an intricate black frame that remains virtually flawless. Serial numbered 78/99 in blue ink with a WGA hologram alongside it, the canvas shows a couple of marks at Wayne’s skate and the left side of the piece with dings to the gold outline also seen. A WGA COA will accompany.
