Always a challenging and inviting set for collectors to build, a pleasing to admire complete 1967-68 Topps set is up for grabs here, highlighted by nine (9) PSA-graded cards. Starting with the encapsulated cardboard, a trio (3) of cards picturing Bobby Orr, the young stud defenceman coming off of his Calder winning first season have been deemed worthy of healthy NM 7 designations, with all three showing strong colours, sharp corners, and good edges/surfaces. Of note, toning is seen to the top edge of Orr’s cards #92 and #128 with similar darkening seen on the bottom edge of #118. For the rest of the graded offerings, Rogie Vachon’s all-important rookie card has earned a NM-MT 8, the highest grade of the bunch, while four (4) PSA EX-MT 6 slabs are present including the first-year cardboard of Jacques Lemaire and Derek Sanderson as well as examples from Stan Mikita and Norm Ulman (All-Star). “Gump” Worsley is the last of the graded cards and the lowest grade of the bunch, falling at an EX 5. All the cards housed in PSA holders show the same toning as mentioned on the Orr cards in varying degrees on either their top or bottom edges. For the raw cards, the remaining 123 specimens are found in a fairly uniform EX/EX-MT condition range with some better examples seen throughout however most show the same aforementioned toning that was exhibited on the graded examples. For star cards, 32-Esposito, 99-Cheevers and 113-Hull all fall in the range of EX-MT while 43-Howe is closer to the scope of EX/EX-MT due to a slight surface imperfection at the right edge. The two checklist cards, #66 and #120, are found in the vicinity of EX-MT and EX/EX-MT respectively with light corner dings seen on both, the heaviest being on the latter of the two. A wonderful trip down memory lane awaits our lucky winning bidder.
