Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

The 46th junior hockey championship of Canada, the 1964 Memorial Cup pitted the George Richardson Memorial Trophy champion Toronto Marlboros of the Ontario Hockey Association against the Abbott Cup champion Edmonton Oil Kings of the Central Alberta Hockey League. The Oil Kings proved to be no match for the Marlboros, with the Torontonians taking the series and Memorial Cup in four straight games. We have team captain Grant Moore’s Marlboros team jacket, along with a Russian made stick originally obtained by Moore after an exchange at an exhibition game at MLG on Nov 23, 1962, when Moore and the Metro Toronto Jr “A” All-Star Team battled the Russian national team. Doug Laurie labeling is affixed to the collar along with “46” sizing, with the light blue jacket featuring a chenille Memorial Cup crest to the left breast, OHA 1963-64 Junior “A” crest to the right sleeve and Moore’s #10 to the left sleeve. The jacket is fully intact and with no issues and just expected wear commensurate with both the garment’s age and former use. The stick is a full-size generic straight-blade model with Cyrillic text stamped to one side of the shaft, with no other identifying marks. What appears to be the original tape is in place over the blade and knob, with the stick showing heavy use, with numerous marks and red paint transfer. Both items were obtained directly from the Moore family.
