Emerging as a regular on the Oilers blueline in 1982-83, and winning five Stanley Cups with hometown Edmonton Oilers over a nine-year NHL career, Gregg received as much notoriety from the fact that he had a medical degree as he did for his solid play on the blueline. Originally part of the Michael Wexler collection that was purchased from the team archives in 1997, we offer this Edmonton Oilers jersey worn by Gregg during the 1985-86 season. A Nike made offering, a tag from the company designating the jersey as a size “XL” is affixed to the inner collar with a smaller white tag in front of it displaying a partially washed out “XXL”. Measuring out to a size “52”, the front of the jersey is decorated with the familiar oil drop crest while the sleeves and verso of the mesh V-neck has been accented with Gregg’s number “21” in tri-colour tackle twill in matching material while “Gregg” is spelt out across the affixed matching mesh nameplate in single layer white twill letters. Exhibiting good game-wear, numerous stick marks and board burns are found over the lower front, sleeves and left shoulder. No fewer than six clusters of team repairs are found over the sleeves and lower front as well, with paint transfers and liquid staining to the sleeves also present. Showing a Nike logo screened to the lower hem, the interior of the jersey sports a customized reinforced fight strap as well as pilling. An Oilers LOA will accompany the jersey, along with a MeiGray COR.
