A larger-than-life personality throughout his entire career on the PGA Tour, John Daly is best known for the raw power and driving distance he produces off of his tee shots, earning him the nickname “Long John”. The winner of two Major Champions over the years, Daly won the 1991 PGA Championship as well as the 1995 Open Championship at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland. Offered here, is this Wilson Invex driver that is attributed to have been used by Daly during his 1995 The Open Championship victory, with the driver actually having been used as a #3 wood off the fairway by Daly.
Mounted on a plaque displaying artistic golf scenery, a silver information plaque is affixed to the top left stating the club was presented to Gary Menaul from long drive champion Bobby Wilson during his visit to Homestead Golf and Winter Resort in Durham, Ontario in May 1997. Daly had originally given the club to Wilson during his equipment change from Wilson to Callaway. A Christmas card sent to Menaul by Wilson prior to his trip to Homestead in which he presented Menaul with the club is imbedded into the middle of the display.
The club remains in good condition, showing wear from use to the grip at the top along with various nicks and abrasions to both the shaft and club head. The plaque itself measures 9” x 51” and shows wear to the edges and corners.
