Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
“Remarkable” is the word that comes to mind after perusing (and admiring!) this gathering of 1962 Post cards featuring members of the Canadian Football League. The presentation is superb, (with each card first placed into an Ultra Pro semi-rigid holder and then into a four-pocket page), and so too is the overall condition. Hardly an obvious crease is observed, with smooth edges pretty much throughout. Out of some three dozen (shown) star cards, just seven exhibit a small light crease, only detected after pulling the cards out. Just one low grade card is present; 69-Vince Scott. Only a couple have four thin blue borders but one of them is a key card; 21-Ron Lancaster is a crease-free beauty, with zero, one, two or three blue borders among the rest. The (crease-free) roster of legends includes Jackie Parker, Joe Kapp, Russ Jackson, Bernie Faloney, Garney Henley, Kenny Ploen, Dick Shatto, Leo Lewis, John Barrow, Rollie Miles, Johnny Bright and still more, while the aforementioned star cards with a light crease are 4-Dixon, 18-Mosca, 39-Gilchrist, 62-Patterson, 101-Harris, 103-Lunsford and 129-Fleming. There are no white back variants involved, while as expected the missing cards include seven short prints (41-Kuntz, 53-Gideon, 86-Piper, 121-Chapman, 131-Brown, 132-Hinton and 136-Beamer), as well as 68-McDougall. For CFL enthusiasts who have never taken the Post CFL plunge, this would be fine time to do so as it would take years/decades to duplicate this assembly. A special binder is deserving of ample consideration.
