Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
The last active player upon his retirement in 2004 that witnessed action in the WHA, Mark Messier is a veteran of over 1700 regular season NHL games, with appearances made in an astounding 15 All-Star Games and a total of six Stanley Cup Championships. Used in the early-2000s during his second stint with the New York Rangers is this Louisville TPS Rubber stick that was wielded by Messier. Void of any tape on the blade, though tape residues are present, Messier’s original black tape job is found on the handle and knob while “Messier” factory stamping appears on the top edge of the blade near the shaft. Exhibiting just light game-use through marks on the shaft, Messier has signed a large black ink signature on the blade that is light in areas due to a weak writing utensil. Additionally, included with the lot is a New York Rangers pro on-ice style jersey that has been signed by Messier. Made by CCM and tagged a size “48”, the jersey is customized as a Messier and features fully stitched and embroidered elements. Remaining in new with tags condition, Messier has signed the first back “1” with a beautiful black ink signature that displays without issue.
