Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
Following in the footsteps of fellow goaltender Ken Dryden, Ben Scrivens played his college hockey at Cornell, and backstopped a quartet of NHL clubs throughout his career while also representing Canada at the World Championships and Winter Olympics. From his second of two seasons in Alberta, we have a photo-matched blocker, glove and pads all signed and worn during the middle portion of the 2014-15 NHL season. Vaughn models in Oilers colour scheme, Scrivens’ moniker of “The Professor” is embroidered to each, with each piece initialed by Kay Whitmore in his role as acting goaltending supervisor of the NHL. Stickers from the Oilers with “Scrivens”, the season, and a serial number are affixed to each item, with the serial number also handwritten (the blocker and glove also have holograms affixed from the Oilers). All items show good game-use with numerous puck marks throughout, with a bit of discolouration to the outside section of the right pad. Each item has also been signed in matching blue marker, with some bleeding occurring to the signatures. Getty Image #460943728 (Dec 31, 2014) has been matched to a number of marks on the wrist guard of the glove, while Getty Image #460945074 (Dec 31, 2014) has been matched to a number of puck marks on the front of the blocker. Additionally, Getty Image #459377704 (Nov 13, 2014) has been matched to a number of marks on the pads and blocker. LOAs for each item from the Oilers will accompany, along with an 8" x 10" photo card of Scrivens wearing these types of models.
