Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Not rare but oh so coveted are rookie cards of Wayne Gretzky, the wizard from Brantford, Ontario who rewrote much of the NHL record book while putting up offensive numbers that very few could have ever fathomed, rendering rare collectors who would not want to own a Gretz RC. This O-Pee-Chee example of famous card #18 is in the most recent of PSA holders and has been given a mark of EX-MT 6 from its inspector, with light wear to the bottom left corner visible, along with two other very lightly touched corners, while the image of Wayne is right of center. It appears as though a light scratch or two affects the surface, although it is difficult to determine whether scratches are only on the front of the holder or both the holder and card surface. Some contend that the two thin blue parallel horizontal lines on the back of the card, at the bottom of the cartoon and which go through the puck, mean that such examples are from O-Pee-Chee's first print run in 1979-80. With the mention of "blue lines" comes this thought/question: has there ever been a player more dangerous from the blue line in than Wayne Gretzky? We think not. The Great One awaits your encapsulated rookie card shrine.
