Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Reaching back to the genesis of one of the greatest careers in history, Maurice Richard would first don the sacred flannel of the mighty Montreal Canadiens in 1942-43, and would see action in just 16 games during his rookie season, all while wearing the #15. We offer an undated exhibition program and ticket stub that featured the Montreal Canadiens including The Rocket battling the Cornwall Flyers in 1942-43, presumably before the NHL season begun on Oct 31st, with this one of the earliest appearances of Richard in a Habs sweater! Issued by the Cornwall Community Arena, the 10 cent program includes the center line-up, with the Canadiens team listing a mix of members from the Montreal Royals and Canadiens including Richard, Lach, Bouchard, Blake, Durnan (Royals), Heffernan (Royals) and others. There is a vertical crease to the program and toning to the interior pages, with some rusting to the staples. The ticket stub exhibits moderate wear. One of the earliest Maurice Richard items in existence, this program is a must for any comprehensive Habs or Rocket collection.
