Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
An item at the top of every puck collectors list and what is considered the puck hobby’s holy grail is the less-often seen Spalding puck. Like the ones used in the NHL for most of the 1930s and up until 1942, this version features identical company logos on both sides, with “Official National League” around the outer edge of the logos with both remaining in very nice condition showing only very minor marks or scratches. Additionally, the puck has been inscribed “Happy birthday from one hockey victim to another”, dated “Atlantic City Seagulls 3/18/41” and signed by Seagulls player, Samuel Fasano. In lovely condition with excellent eye appeal, the puck displays light surface scratching and wear with a one inch cut on the inscribed side. The side of the puck has minor nicks, scratches, and shallow cuts all the way around. The inscription remains clear despite smudging in a couple areas. Some fading to the signature also present but does not take away from the intrigue this piece draws to it.
