Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022

Bobby Orr’s cherished and ultra-desirable rookie card highlights this gathering of 1966-67 Topps cards, issued as the teenager embarked upon his unparalleled, all-too-short career. Famous card #35 in this instance received an EX+ 5.5 verdict upon examination at PSA headquarters, with white specks at all four corners and an image right of center. An apparent unblemished surface is an attribute, with a couple of light horizontal scratches appearing to be on the front of the holder and not the card. Bobby Hull was also attention-grabbing back in the day, having broken the single-season mark for goals (54) and points (97) the previous season, with Hull’s regular (#112) issue here earning a mark of NM 7 and that of 13-Terry Sawchuk at EX-MT 6. Some two dozen of the raw contributors (most of them commons) mirror the Sawchuk example, with Phil Esposito’s second-year card notable, while VG-EX to EX cards outnumber VG and VG+ entries amid the remainder. With an EX-MT appearance is 109-Howe, although a light subtle back crease sends it to VG+, with Gordie’s 121-All-Star card VG. Other creased notables include 1-Blake, 77-Mahovlich and the two (multi-creased) checklists, both of them with partially-erased marks. Also with creases and low grade is a duplicate 112-Hull card, with a 13-Sawchuk double at G. Two star cards, 8-Richard and 78-Keon, have scotch tape marks on the back. Bobby and Bobby and the rest are sure to intrigue the masses.
A noticeable three-inch horizontal scratch to the holder of the Sawchuk card is to mention, with the holder of the Hull card scratch and scuff-free.
