A backbone of the Montreal Canadiens defense line throughout a number of the club's most successful seasons, Serge Savard won an impressive eight Stanley Cup championships with the Canadiens before moving on to the Winnipeg Jets in 1981 where he would stay for two seasons before retiring after 1040 NHL games played. Offered here from his final season of 1982-83 is this lot of two Sher-Wood PMP 5030 Serge Savard game-used team-signed sticks. “Savard 18” is stamped on the upper shaft of each stick with most of it covered by the original tape job that is found on both the knob and blade. The knob of one of the sticks has tape that has come loose. Both sticks have their foil stickers at the bottom of the shaft mostly intact while the backside of one of the shafts shows a faint factory date stamp reading “30 Aout 1982”. Free of major cracks or breaks, the bottoms of both blades show wear. The shafts of each stick have been signed by 16 members of the 1982-83 Winnipeg Jets including: Levie, Lundholm, Mann, Mullen, Savard, Babych, Evans, Triper, Arneil, Haywood, Lukowich, Deblois, Dupont, Spring, Smail and MacLean. Most of the signatures display well with some having faded or bled over time.
