Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
The first time the club finished the season atop the league since 1948, the Toronto Maple Leafs won 35 games and earned 82 points in 1962-63, with Frank Mahovlich leading in scoring and fellow HOFer Johnny Bower securing 20 wins. Current Stanley Cup champions when the season began, the Leafs would be victorious at season’s end, and earn the franchises 3rd consecutive championship in 1963-64. We have a 1962-63 preseason Leafs program signed by 10, accompanied by a puck gifted to our consignor at the match by team captain George Armstrong. At 6” x 7” (open), the single-page fold-over program is dated “September 35, 1962”, and was produced for a match vs the San Francisco Seals. All 10 have signed the line-up side in mixed inks including HOFer Keon, Imlach and Bower, along with Brewer, Douglas, Shack, Bailey (Seals), Kurtenbach (Seals), Nicholson (Seals) and one other. The signatures present well, with toning and wear to the program. The puck is an Art Ross CCM model correct for the era, with light wear and residue, with each of the Art Ross crests somewhat darkened.
