Unique and special game programs originally attended by sports journalist Allen Abel are offered, with a number of desirable and not-often-seen gems. Containing approx 37 items with programs, signed programs, pins, passes and ticket stubs, the programs include Dec 31, 1979 Montreal vs Soviet Red Army, Dec 29, 1979 Islanders vs Soviet Red Army with Abel's Globe & Mail media pass for the game, two Dec 28, 1975 Rangers vs Soviet Red Army ticket stubs (Abel's seats), 1979 Challenge Cup program, Statistics and Notes sheets, medal, pins (3) and five tickets stubs - including for Game 1 (Feb 8th, won by NHL All-Stars 4-2), Game 2 (2 stubs, Feb 10th, won by the Soviets 5-4) and Game 3 (2 stubs, Feb 11th, won by the Soviets 6-0), 1981 Canada Cup program with Abel's Globe & Mail ticket and pass stapled to the interior, 1973 All-Star Game program (toning), 1999 Final Game at MLG program still sealed, March 7, 1982 "Masters of Hockey" program with two ticket stubs, 1980-81 Black Hawks Stan Mikita Night program with 19 Orange Crush Mikita premium photo inserts, and a 2016 Gordie Howe funerary program with Detroit Red Wings press release regarding Mr Hockey's passing. The signed programs total seven and include mostly 1970s Rangers examples, with programs signed on the cover by Brad Park, Bobby Hull (interior), Bobby Orr (covers only), Bobby Hull, Tony Esposito and Boom Boom Geoffrion (interior), along with a 1973 All-Star Game program signed on the cover by Rod Gilbert and Jim Neilson. The lot also contains Abel's 1979-80 Toronto Maple Leafs season press pass, "USSR NHL News" button (assumed to hail from the 1979 Challenge Cup), and 1991 and 1994 All-Star Game pins.

Winning six National Magazine awards for political, travel and sports writing as a contributor to numerous publications including Sports Illustrated and Maclean's, Abel was also an on-air host, narrator, writer or producer on dozens of documentaries for HBO, Discovery, National Geographic, Hockey Night in Canada, the CBC and others. Abel has also authored a number of non-fiction works including 'The Short Life of Hughie McLoon — A True Story of Baseball, Magic, and Murder'
