Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/21/2022
The desirable rookie card of a hockey giant, Aubrey "Dit" Clapper, is offered here, with the Boston Bruin lifer's 6' 2" frame and his accomplishments interesting indeed. A member of Boston's Dynamite Line (with Cooney Weiland and Dutch Gainor) and an established star when "Ice Kings" were issued, Clapper had scored 41 goals in 44 games in 1929-30 and would go on to become the first NHLer to play 20 seasons. He even captained and coached the Bruins for four years, being the first and only player inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame (and having his number retired) at the conclusion of his last game! Card #1 in the '33-34 World Wide Gum issue is of course challenging in high grade, with this EX-MT+ 6.5 tempter bettered by just seven others among bilingual versions in the history of PSA (44 total submissions). Light scratches to the front of the holder and a scuff on the back are mentionable, as well as, "one of the set's most important/valuable cards is worthy of ample consideration."
