Originally drafted 62nd overall by the St. Louis Blues in 1981, Gord Donnelly would enjoy an NHL career consisting of 554 games that would see the hard-hitting defenceman rack up 2069 penalty minutes, averaging out to 3.73 minutes per game played. Presented here, is the Quebec Nordiques jersey worn by Donnelly at the start of the 1988-89 season, as he was traded to the Winnipeg Jets only 16 games into the campaign. Made by CCM, a Maska Ultrafil label is affixed to the inner collar showing a size “56” designation written in blue pen with the CCM logo embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated with the Nordiques crest over the front in layered tackle twill, Donnelly’s number “34” is heat-pressed to the sleeves and verso in white vinyl, with fleur-de-lys placed over the shoulders and lower bands in matching material and style. Worn for just eight (8) games, the jersey shows light game-wear in the form of some light marks/board burns to the left sleeve and front of the jersey. Staining is seen on the front, lower front and lower reverse while the fight strap on the interior shows evidence of washings. The vinyl fleur-de-lys, name-on-nameplate, sleeve and reverse numbers all show peeling and flaking as is commonly seen on Nords jerseys.
