Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Unopened hockey card wax packs from decades ago are oh so cool and thought-provoking, with a mesmerizing 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee 2nd Series pack here surely mouth-watering for some of you. Back in the day, some packs like this contained All-Star or trophy winner cards that captivated kids, with Bobby Orr's four trophy cards and a Terry Sawchuk memorial card joining rookie cards of Bobby Clarke and Darryl Sittler among the most valuable nowadays. As you can see, the front of 2nd Series packs included an image of Gordie Howe (that was not included in the insert set), with the wrapper falsely hailing "A Real Autographed Photo in Every Pack" and referring to the Deckle Edge inserts that featured facsimile autographs. Eight cards, a Deckle Edge card and a piece of gum could be had for ten cents. We'd like to be able to tell you what card shows through on the bottom of the pack here but cannot decipher it, with the pack graded NM-MT 8 by GAI. Some might recall busting packs like this - you should have saved the wrappers! - and then weeks later watching Ken Dryden's Stanley Cup playoff heroics - ah, the memories. Scratches to the GAI holder are to note but they'll be easily overlooked when you take possession of this delectable piece.
