Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
The Canadian Football League is represented in our consignor's unopened wax pack bonanza by this scarce, colorful, eye-catching specimen from 1971, with "informative" an adjective also describing the wrapper. Info about the number of cards ("EIGHT PACK"), the price (10¢), the number of sticks of bubble gum (1) and an "ALL-STAR POSTER" insert is included, while inside, who knows, there is possibly the set's most famous card, that picturing quarterback Joe Theisman. Other notables involved in O-Pee-Chee's 132-card set in '71 were/are legends Angelo Mosca, Ron Lancaster and George Reed, while the rookie card roster includes fellow Hall of Famers Tony Gabriel, Peter Dalla Riva and Dave Cutler. The back of an unidentifiable card partially shows through the back here, with "EX-MT 6" appearing on the label of the latest of PSA wax pack holders - kudos to its designer. The PSA Population Report alludes to the scarcity of '71 unopened CFL packs; just 19 have ever been encapsulated by the firm. This one will be delivered in a new holder free of scratches and will no doubt excite upon its arrival.
