Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
Losing only 10 contests while led by HOF legends Howie Morenz, Aurele Joliat and George Hainsworth, the Montreal Canadiens finished first overall at the conclusion of the 1930-31 NHL season, and proceeded to crush both the Boston Bruins and Chicago Black Hawks to claim the franchise's first consecutive Stanley Cup victory. Produced for the Jan 6, 1931 contest vs the Detroit Cougars, we have a scarce early Montreal Forum program. Picturing a generic Hab on the cover along with the .10 cent purchase price and advertising from Red Indian gasoline, the 48-page survivor features full-page bios with photos for Morenz and Hainsworth as well as the Maroons' Red Noble, with the centerfold line-up detached but present. Won by the Cougars 6-2, with Joliat scoring the Habs first goal, the program exhibits creases to the covers and toning to the interior, and displays beautifully overall.
