This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Based upon Mario Puzo’s novel of the same name, The Godfather was released to critical acclaim in 1972, earning over 400 million at the box office while widely being heralded as one of the greatest films of all-time. This lot offers a collection of 40 black and white publicity photos/stills with each character from the film appearing to be represented. All in the 8” x 10” range, “The Godfather” appears over each base along with credit lines from the film and a Paramount logo, with the production number of each listed on the original negative visible. Most also sports a copyright notice stamp to the reverse. Stills include all male members of the Corleone family, the Corleone wedding, Luca Brasi being killed, Michael in Italy, the meeting of the five families, Michael with the Godfather in the hospital, Sonny beating up Carlo, and many others. The majority of the stills are warped along the sides, with each curling upwards somewhat. There is also the odd surface line, crease or clipped corner, with a few showing heavier damage.
