Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

A hockey “giant’ was Jean Beliveau, both on and off the ice, with few men, before, during and after their careers commanding the respect and admiration like that heaped upon the Canadiens’ icon. Few Jean Beliveau 1953-54 Parkhurst rookie cards have commanded a higher mark than the tantalizing NM-MT 8 verdict that this beauty received. The centering, the edges, the corners and the first-rate registration are all a joy to behold, with part of the write-up on the back mentioning how Jean was “considered by pundits as the “star of tomorrow.” Just a couple of seasons later was when tomorrow “came” as the center, after an injury-affected rookie season and then a 37-goal campaign were followed in 1955-56 by the scoring championship and Hart Memorial Trophy as league MVP. A single MINT 9 Beliveau is champion on the PSA Population Report, with it and just seven NM-MT+ 8.5s edging this shocker, one of 33 to merit NM-MT recognition out of the 571 examples inspected by PSA since the company’s inception. A gorgeous and inviting Beliveau RC merits substantial contemplation, with no scratches to the PSA holder.
