A staple on the backend of Canada’s National Team from 1963 till 1970 and again being a member at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics, Terry O’Malley enjoyed a long run wearing the Canadian colours of red and white. Presented here is a breath-taking collection of Terry O’Malley’s game-used equipment including pants, uniform sock pairs (home and away) and equipment bag while playing as a member of Canada’s National Team including a jersey attributed as having been used during the 1968-69 season and 1969 IIHF World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden. Up first and meant to house everything inside of it is a thick red canvas bag used by O’Malley. Featuring a blue stenciled number “2” on each end to designate the bag as O’Malley’s, one side of the canvas sack also features the Canadian maple leaf with “Canada” underneath as well as “National Hockey Team” nearby. Remaining in well used but overall good condition, the bag’s zipper is no longer present but the cloth handles remain fully intact. It should also be noted that the bag features small holes and fraying throughout especially at the corners and sides of the bag, the highest points of contact with other items for the material. The next item found in the collection is a pair of hockey pants that were worn by O’Malley, again during his national team tenure. Made by Winn Well, the red and white breezers remain in good condition with plenty of wear present such as team repairs via patch work and puck marks. The interior features all the padding still present with only light tattering and a hand written “44” in black marker found at the tailbone area, presumably the size the pants are. A skate lace tie up at the front is flanked all the way around the waist by meal buttons with most still appearing original and displaying the Winn Well name with a Cooper replacement also found. It should be noted that both the uppers and lowers of the pants are included to make a complete pair. Both pairs of Team Canada socks are also present in the lot. Starting with the white pair, they remain in good condition while displaying some wear in forms such as staining and puck marks. The bottom elastics are still present and remain untattered while team repairs are found on each sock. The red pair presents much the same with the colours still bold and only light into the white stripe, once again the elastic bottoms are present and untattered while on this pair the team repairs are far more substantial on each sock with both having sinches of approximately 8.5”. Lastly is the piece de resistance of the entire collection in the form of a game-worn jersey by O’Malley that is attributed to the 1969 World Hockey Championships in Stockholm, Sweden where Canada would finish fourth place. The white jersey features a Canadian maple leaf and “Canada” arched across the chest in red twill under a lace-up style neck that has since seen a replacement lace added. The sleeves and verso of the jersey feature O’Malley’s number “2” in the same red twill. A small manufactures tag reading “Montex” is found affixed to the interior hem while the jersey itself measures out to around a size 44. Nice game wear is present to go along with wear from aging such as various staining/toning and marks throughout but also team repairs on the front, back, and sleeves of this incredible international artifact. From the Shawn Chaulk collection.
