Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

Everyone always has a greater appreciation for certain athletes when they have been classified as the greatest of all-time in their respective sports. Such is the case when it comes to people and their fixation with basketball legend, Michael Jordan. Coming to us from the late-1980’s to early-1990’s era of MJ’s career is this three-card lot ranging from 1988 to 1991 including two (2) 1991 Upper Deck Baseball #SP1’s of Jordan taking batting practice with the White Sox (Oh the foreshadowing!). Up first in this lineup is a 1988 Fournier NBA Estrellas #22 Michael Jordan. Fournier, a Spanish playing card manufacture, got in on the NBA hype of the Jordan era with a 33-card set that resembled playing cards. As is the case with all the cards in this lot, it has been graded by Beckett and deemed worthy of a GEM MINT 9.5 by the company with subgrades of; centering 9.5, corners 10, edges 9, and surface 10. Cards two and three of the lot are ones that have become significant in the hobby being that of the Jordan feature as part of the 1991 Upper Deck baseball set. Card #SP1 with a clean design and photography of the basketball legend in the batting cage, the card carries excellent eye appeal, something that Upper Deck was known for right out of the gate from their original releases of 1989. Beckett has deemed both cards as NM-MT+ 8.5’s with subgrades; centering 8.5, corners 8, edges 8.5, and surface 9.5 on the first and; centering 9.5, corners 8.5, edges 8.5, and surface 9.5 on the second. An excellent pair that is only going to gain more and more popularity as time goes on. All three cards are found encased in Beckett holders with all three showcasing only minor wear in the form of light scratching.
