The second overall pick in the 1971 National Football League draft by the New Orleans Saints, Archie Manning enjoyed a 13-year NFL career with most of it being spent in New Orleans where he would garner 2 Pro Bowl selections in 1978 and 1979 respectively. Presented here is this beautiful lot consisting of two highly coveted Archie Manning 1972 Topps rookie cards that find themselves encased by PSA and BVG. The first example, having been graded by the fine folks at BVG, rings in and kicks us off as having been awarded the grade of EX-MT 6. Perhaps a tough grade, the card shows a little off-centre top to bottom but carries smooth edges and crisp corners. Housed in a BVG Beckett holder that presents well, it shows little wear in the form of only light scratching both front and back.
Rounding out this lot of two Manning rookies and coming in as the better of the present examples is one that has been handled by the professionals at PSA who have deemed that this one present here worthy of a MINT 9 grade. A beautiful example with striking colours and attributed such as its corners, surface, and centering, this card stands in exclusive company on the PSA Population Report as out of 1,259 examples of the 1972 Topps Manning graded by the company only 139 of them have come back as MINT 9’s, including this one, with only 15 perfect 10’s above it. Housed in a PSA holder that shows only light scratching, this absolute gem, as well that its BVG counterpart, stand ready to make healthy additions to your growing collection.
