A King Clancy and Bill Masterton Trophy winner during his career, Saku Koivu is the first European-born player to lead the Montreal Canadiens as captain, and was selected to the NHL All-Star Game by fans in 1998 and 2003 (injured). These photo-matched skates were worn by the star Finn during his final season in Montreal, in 2008-09. CCM U+ models with CCM E Pro blade holders, “11” decals grace each underside boot (Getty Image #80347364 shows the matching-type decals), with “#2” stickers to each blade holder. The pair show heavy wear with rubbing to the material in areas of the boots along with cuts to the toe sections, with additional marks and cuts to the blade holders. Getty Image #85845184 (Feb 11, 2009) has been matched to a number of marks to the outside section of the blade holder on the right skate, and the inside section of the blade holder on the left skate, with the red paint transfer marks at the reverse of the blade holder on the right skate also visible. One of the most beloved of all modern Montreal Canadiens, these skates worn by Koivu during his swan song season with the Habs should command considerable interest.
