The first Swiss-born player to hoist Lord Stanley’s mug, David Aebischer achieved the feat while with Colorado in 2001, Aebischer would stick around in Colorado till the trade deadline of the 2005-06 season which evidently is the season this jersey hails from. Worn by Aebischer in the first post-lockout season, the interior collar of this “goalie style” designated jersey displays sizing flag tags with the size ringing in as a size “58” with the one featuring a handwritten “II” in black marker. Made by Reebok and featuring logos of the brand and NHL shield on the back neckline and rear hem respectively, this Colorado example has been stylized with the familiar Avalanche crest as well as a patch over the right breast to commemorate the 10th season played by the Avs in Colorado. The sleeves and verso of the jersey feature David’s number “1” in tri-layer stacked tackle twill with “Aebischer” arched across the upper back on an affixed matching nameplate. The jersey features good game use exhibited with such examples in the form of puck marks all over, pilling inside and out, pulls, and a small hole found in the middle of the left sleeve. A 2004-05 MeiGray Group patch with serial number C02718 has been affixed to the lower inner hem, as well as an added “2005-06 Season”, with their population report states that this jersey is a “Burgundy Set 2” example. Additionally, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Images #116935054 to the puck marks found streaking though the crest and at the top of the anniversary patch.
