After being drafted by the Canadiens in the 7th round 200th overall in the 2005 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Kostitsyn would end up playing 155 games in the bleu, blanc et rouge over 3 seasons, including 56 games during the centennial season of 2008-09. Worn by Kostitsyn in a Dec 4th contest vs the Rangers in that centennial year (6-2 Montreal victory), we have a “1915-16” Canadiens centennial Set 1 jersey. Labeled on the inner collar with a size “56” flag tag, a handwritten number “1” for set 1 is found within the outline of the Reebok logo that adorns the back neckline. The front of the jersey, featuring the NHL shield logo at the neck, showcases the circa 1915-16 style team crest in tackle twill. This beautiful solid red tie-neck has been accented with dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers while “Kostitsyn” is found laid across the matching nameplate, with the important centennial patch over the right shoulder. A hologram has also been affixed to the reverse “4” numbered “290742”, with the team patch over the inside hem numbered “A01358”, with both matching the accompanying LOA from the Canadiens. Having been worn in just one game during that fabled and celebrated season, the jersey showcases extremely light use in the form of a few loose threads at the interior neckline. Overall a fantastic jersey from a season that was all about honouring the illustrious history of one of hockey’s greatest franchises.
