A Memorial Cup champion with the Toronto Marlboros, Mike Kitchen was selected in both the NHL and WHA Drafts of 1976, and made his NHL debut for Colorado in 1976-77. The Newmarket native would spend his entire NHL career with the franchise, transitioning to New Jersey when the team became the Devils. Kitchen also won Stanley Cups with Chicago in a coaching capacity in 2013 and 2015. From his final NHL season, we have a photo-matched Devils jersey worn by Kitchen in 1983-84. Just the second season in Newark, Cosby labeling is affixed to the collar, with the jersey measuring out to roughly a size 52. Cosby and CCM crests also appear over the reverse hem. Sporting a layered tackle twill team crest, “26” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with the tie-style fight strap intact. Showing heavy game-use throughout, there are marks and bends to the team crest, with scrapes and burns to the sleeves. Team repairs are also present over each elbow section, with a small stain on the front band that appears to be blood. Getty Image #466879112 (Nov 9, 1983) has been matched to the dark mark directly to the left of the “2” of “26” on the left sleeve, with the bend to the lower right area of the team crest also visible.
