A design originally made for the Sabres to wear in their match up against the New York Rangers in the 2018 Winter Classic at Citi Field, the jersey became a third jersey for the rest of the season following the outdoor affair. Presented here is one of those post-Winter Classic worn Buffalo Sabres third jerseys off the back of defenseman Josh Gorges. Made by Adidas and identified as a size 56 on the inner collar tagging, the jersey features the classic retro-style felt crest stitched to the front as well as a buffalo patch on the left shoulder in sport gold with “Sabres” spelt through it. At the front neckline, found is the metallic logo patch of the NHL shield. The sleeves and verso of the jersey feature the blue felt number “4” of Gorges with his name in matching blue felt letters sprawled across the affixed name bar at the top of the back under the embroidered Adidas logo. Game wear on the jersey is light with the only true identifiers of game use being a couple of marks and board burns found on each of the elbows and a puck mark near the hem on the front side. Found affixed inside the jersey on the lower back hem is a team patch from the Sabres identifying it as a Winter Classic style jersey with the serial number #2018093. A matching certificate of authenticity from the Sabres will accompany the piece with the COA stating that the jersey was worn in a game against the New York Islanders on February 8th, 2018. Additionally, the jersey has been photo-matched via Getty Images #920257704 to the bit of frayed white at the edge of the blue neckline near the NHL shield logo.
