Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
Facing off against the Detroit Red Wings on February 2nd, 1977, the Toronto Maple Leafs gave the Motor City gang a 9-1 thrashing with defenseman Ian Turnbull leading the way with 5 markers to break the then NHL record for most goals in a single game by a defenceman (Harry Cameron held the record with 4 set on Boxing Day 1917 while playing with the Toronto Arenas). From that record breaking night is this ticket stub from the game. The only one ever graded by PSA and deemed worthy of a VG 3 grade, the stub remains white with bold red accents to designate the holders seat colour. Seat information is displayed at the top edge along with corners that show touches of wear. Torn just below the “Maple Leaf Gardens” wordmark at the bottom, the middle of the stub displays the game date of “Wed Feb 2, 1977” along with the NHL hockey season stated as 1976-77 above the jaw dropping cheap tax in price of $10.00 when compared with today’s tickets. An ad for Dominion grocers is found on the reverse. Additionally, a Leafs 1976-77 pocket schedule is included with the stub.
