All-time great and longtime NHL shutout king Terry Sawchuk stars here in encapsulated form, with his Parkhurst issues outdoing the Topps representatives in terms of both quantity and quality and PSA responsible for the assessment of all. A smiling Terry appears on an aesthetically pleasing 1963-64 Parkie that merited lofty MINT 9 status, with the PSA Population Report revealing that just nine other similar Sawchuk cards have ever been so recognized, the Pop 10s edged by a single GEM MT 10 example. Other Parkhurst entries are also interesting, with Sawchuk’s third-year card (’53-54) at NM 7, a ’60-61 issue erroneously identified “1961 Parkhurst” on the label (where “NM+ 7.5” also appears) and a ’61-62 card achieving a mark of NM-MT 8. We would say strictly graded (at GOOD+ 2.5) is a ’54-55 Parkie with but a rather small indentation visible on the back the only notable/obvious grade-lowering flaw of any importance. A three-year run of Topps contributors includes VG-EX 4s from ’57-58 and ’58-59, while a ’59-60 card’s EX 5 verdict is joined by a (MK) qualifier due to two small numerals penned on the back. Finally, legendary Terry is pictured with the Rangers, the team with whom he registered his last of 103 regular season shutouts, on a ’69-70 O-Pee-Chee card slabbed EX-MT 6. Light scratches to a few of the PSA holders are most evident on that of the ’63-64 Parkie, but all in all, an alluring ensemble worthy of ample consideration.
