Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

The most aesthetically-pleasing vintage hockey cards ever is how we and others sometimes describe 1954-55 Topps hockey cards and that means very, very nice to look at! With gorgeous popping red, white and blue colors and led by this guy, Topps sure got it right with its inaugural hockey card effort. Gordie Howe and his Red Wings would win their fourth Stanley Cup in six years the same season as cards like this were discovered in packs, with this example graded EX 5 by PSA some years ago. A light one-inch crease running parallel to and just below Gordie's facsimile autograph is definitely noteworthy, with an upper left corner ding and light wear to the other corners also to mention. Mentioned on the back is how Howe had led the NHL in points the previous four seasons, with the write-up commencing, "Regarded by many experts as the greatest Hockey Player of all-time." An all-time great in hockey card annals is Mr. Hockey's '54-55 Topps issue, with this one to arrive in a PSA holder without scratches.
