This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Attractive in style, sporting the wonderful design aesthetics popular during the 19th century, this lot features three pairs of antique ice skate pairs, with each constructed with desirable brass adornments. Included, we have a pair of late-19th century possibly ladies skates by noted Worcester, Massachusetts maker Samuel Winslow, with wooden bases, cast-steel bullet-nose blades, brass heel cups and intact leather strapping with brass hardware, the pair show light use, with the company name and address stamped to each blade. Next, we have a similar pair, with these again possibly ladies skates, with wooden bases, square-cut blades, brass heel cups and intact leather strapping with brass hardware, with no maker’s marks, the pair survive in rarely-seen high grade condition, with “6” stamped to each blond wooden base, and minor surface wear to the blades. Lastly, we have a pair of blacksmith made skates from the mid-19th century with hand-hammered curling-tip blades with circular terminations and mounted brass step plates with copper rivets. There is also a single intact leather heel-cup strap. The pair show wear commensurate with their age and former use. Please note that each antique skate lot in our current auction hails from an advanced 19th century skate collection, with this the second offering from the vast and comprehensive grouping.
