Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Produced for the budding skater of days long past, we offer an antique and vintage skate pairs collection of 4, with a few interesting and seldom-seen specimens. First, we have a pair of solid black enamel skates, made for a very small child, attractively cut with no maker’s marks but likely produced by Union Hardware sometime in the latter half of the 19th century. Most of the black enameling is intact. Next, we have a pair of Nestor Johnson Children’s Snow Gliders from the first couple decades of the 20th century, with the metal skates shaped like snow shoes with grooved undersides, with each having the company name and model engraved along with a single intact leather strap. The pair shows surface wear throughout. The third pair are Dutch children’s skates with small wooden platforms and leather and linen strapping, with an attractive company decal showing a pair of skaters, with light overall wear to the pair. The last pair are circa-1920s Children’s Falcon Buddy Snow Skates by American Manufacturing Co, with the wooden base skates with intact rubber treads and original lacing sporting attractive but worn company decals, with patent numbers to each underside. The pair remain in beautiful condition, showing light surface wear. Please note that each antique skate lot in our current auction hails from an advanced 19th century skate collection, with this the second offering from the vast and comprehensive grouping.
