Montreal’s first pick, 14th overall, in the 2002 NHL Draft, forward Chris Higgins’ game-worn jersey is from his rookie season with the Canadiens in 2005-06. Higgins, who wore No. 88 when he played two games for Montreal in 2003-04, wore this No. 21 jersey with the Habs in 2005-06 after playing the previous two seasons with Hamilton of the AHL. His 23 goals tied him with Alex Kovalev for second on the Canadiens behind Michael Ryder’s team-leading 30 goals. Higgins had 38 points and finished 11th in Calder Trophy voting in a rookie class that featured award winner Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, Dion Phaneuf, Henrik Lundqvist, Ryan Miller and Jeff Carter. His rookie season jersey has a size 56 flag tag in the back of the collar, which has “3” for Set 3 written in black marker inside the outline of the stitching for the Reebok logo patch below the back of the collar. MeiGray NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2004-2005 Season with registry No. C05325 is sewn inside the left rear tail, with a square 2005-2006- Season patch to its left. According to the MeiGray population report the jersey is a “Red Set 3”. The NHL logo is sewn on the right rear hem. Game wear includes numerous marks found on both sleeves of the jersey in the elbow area especially on the left sleeve which also features a popped stitch in the elbow reinforcement and a small puck mark found at the edge of the Canadiens famed CH crest. Stains are found throughout as well to indicate additional game use as is an unrepaired hole found on the front lower left side of the jersey. The item will come accompanied by a MeiGray letter of authenticity.
