A fan favourite of the bleu, blanc et rouge for a total of 14 season, Koivu spent ten of his seasons in Montreal serving as team captain before moving on to play out the rest of his National Hockey League career with the Anaheim Ducks. Presented here and hailing from the Canadiens centennial season of 2008-09 is this Saku Koivu game-worn captain’s jersey. Featuring a size 54 flag tag on the inner collar, the jersey is designated as a set one jersey based on the handwritten black number “1” within the outline of the Reebok logo on the neck. The front of the jersey features the famed “CH” crest of the Habs as well as the distinguished captain’s “C” on the left side. The sleeves and verso of the jersey feature Koivu’s number “11” in two-layer two colour tackle twill with “Koivu” scrawled out across an affixed matching nameplate in single layer white twill letters. Additional patches found on the jersey include those of the 2009 NHL All-Star Game that was hosted by Montreal, the team’s centennial patch, and the logos of both the NHL and Reebok on the front and back necklines respectively. Game wear on the jersey remains fairly light with the only examples exhibited being that of puck marks found on the front of the jersey in the mid-section as well as additional one across the left sleeve numbers. Team tagging is present at the interior of the jersey and a Canadiens Authentics hologram sticker (GW20239) is affixed to the jersey’s back numbers with a pair of letter of authenticity’s accompanying the piece; one has the correct team hologram but an error on the size of the jersey (listed as a size 56), the second one has the correct size listed on it (size 54) but an hologram with a different number is applied to it. Both letters have the correct Canadiens jersey program number (A01462).
