Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Putting up better than point-per-game numbers over the course of his career thus far, Patrick Kane’s hockey resume is filled with things that make him more impressive than not with three Stanley Cups, the Calder Trophy, a Hart Trophy, and an Art Ross just to name a few examples won by the Chicago superstar. Quite possibly, Kane is the greatest American NHL player of all-time. Presented here and hailing from the 2016-17 season where he put up 89 points in 82 games, is this Bauer Vapor 1X stick that was used by Kane. Autographed on the heel in striking gold ink and displaying beautifully, the stick remains in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks present. Featuring familiar tape styles as found on other Kane sticks, the white knob tape has Kane’s handwritten “88” on the front side with a hand written “46” on the back possibly denoting it as a stick from the 46th game of the season. With all tape still present and back of the shaft still showing the affixed warranty sticker, the factory graphics of “P.Kane #88” on the upper shaft are well accompanied. Game wear on the twig should be described as moderate with most of it apparent in the form of puck marks as well as some nicks and chips in the lower shaft and heel area. Additionally, Kane seems to have applied a tacky product top to bottom on the shaft, creating a residue throughout. The stick is part of a large collection of sticks featured in this auction with our consignor informing us that he obtained most of them from various NHL All-Star Games over the years with four such examples from the collection having been photo-matched to All-Star Games.
