Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Having been the face of the Los Angeles Kings franchise for 15 full seasons and now in his 16th with the distinction of having the captain’s “C” on his chest, Anze Kopitar has been everything the Kings were hoping for and then some when they drafted the Slovenian 11th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Culminating in two Stanley Cup Championships in 2012 and 2014, Kopitar has regularly produced at near point-per-game numbers. Presented here a stick used by Kopitar during the 2014-15 National Hockey League season which would see him put up 64 points in 79 games played and for the third time in his career be named to the All-Star Game. The Nexus 8000, Kopitar’s first stick used with Bauer, features “Kopitar” factory graphics on the upper shaft and Anze’s familiar tape patterns present on both the blade and shaft. As if common to find on Kopitar sticks, the bottom part has been blacked out. The back of the shaft features the factory warranty and serial number stickers. Game wear exhibited on the stick is moderate with the blade tape showing puck marks and the black paint on the shaft showing chipping and wear. All tape is present and the shaft shows some chips and nicks as well. The stick is part of a large collection of sticks featured in this auction with our consignor informing us that he obtained most of them from various NHL All-Star Games over the years with four such examples from the collection having been photo-matched to All-Star Games.
