A three-time NHL All-Star, representing Russia internationally throughout his career, Alexei Yashin dressed for just the New York Islanders and Ottawa Senators, and began and concluded his career with Russian clubs including Dynamo Moscow and CSKA Moscow. From his second season on Long Island, where he registered 65 points in 81 games, we have a photo-matched Islanders alternate captain’s jersey worn by Yashin in 2002-03. A label with “58” sizing is affixed to the collar, with NHL and KOHO crests on the bottom hem and reverse necklines respectively. Styled with the classic Long Island team crest with embroidered detailing, “79” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with an alternate patch over the right shoulder. The sleeve cuffs have also been customized, with the circumference shortened. Nice use is shown on the garment, with marks over the front band and burns marks with resulting holes on the left sleeve. Team repairs are also visible, with a large example on the right sleeve and a trio of repairs over the left. Getty Image #1252432417 (Feb 7, 2003 vs Washington) has been matched to stick mark over the front band, and to the two black dots within the "9" on the right sleeve, while Getty Image #1252432930 (Feb 7, 2003) has been matched to the repaired hole over the right sleeve before the repair, with the dark mark that bridges the orange and white striping bands also visible. The “Set 2” team patch is affixed to the inside hem along with a crest from MeiGray numbered “A02462”, and according to the company’s population report, the jersey is a “Navy 2nd Regular Season w/A” specimen. An Islanders/MeiGray LOA will accompany.
