The backbone of the Edmonton defensive core during the 2008-09 season, Sheldon Souray put up 53 points in 81 games for the Oilers that season. Offered here is the set 3 away jersey that Souray wore while patrolling the Oilers blueline late in that season. Worn in a total of six games from March 19th to April 11th, this jersey features CCM size “58+” tagging in the collar as well as the tagging for Elite Sportswear, the official customizer at the time for the Oilers. NHL and Reebok cresting are found on the front and back necklines respectively. Stylized with the easily recognizable Oilers crest, “44” has been stitched on both sleeves and reverse in triple-stacked three colour tackle twill in addition to the alternate captain’s “A”. Team set tagging has been sewn to the inside of the jerseys bottom hem. Additionally, the jersey also has MeiGray tagging sewn to the inside hem and has been registered as #F10780 in their system. An Oilers/MeiGray letter of authenticity accompany the jersey. The jersey shows various elements of game wear such as puck and stick marks found throughout the piece, especially on the arms. as well as a light-yellow paint transfer found on the right shoulder. The back of the jersey shows a small cut in the fabric just under where the fight strap ends that is about one inch long. The interior of the jersey shows loose threading around the shoulders and elbow area. Getty Image #85535604 from a game on March 19th, 2009 against the Colorado Avalanche, has been matched to a puck mark the front of the jersey at the hem near the right navy piping stripe. Additionally, Getty Image #85535601 from the same game has been matched the three puck marks that make an “M” pattern near the wrist on the inside of the left sleeve.
