Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

Over 3000 hockey cards are up for your consideration here and a complete 1977-78 O-Pee-Chee set is where we’ll start, with nice clean surfaces exhibiting very little handling and intermittent corner touches and light dings making for some EX and EX+ action, although EX-MT and NM-or-better examples combine to dominate – you’ll enjoy coming upon the NM-MT to MINT entries. An off-centered EX+ Bobby Orr card and unmarked checklists and team checklists are noteworthy and then comes a ’79-80 OPC set minus a Wayne Gretzky rookie card and perfect to match up with a Gretz RC. An (upper) mid-grade average is observed, with cards in the EX vicinity joined by superior examples but usually a little something denying high grade status and corner dings dropping 175-Howe to VG. The Oilers and Whalers team checklists and two others are marked but the three checklists are not, with ink “running” on the back of #237. Now then, here’s the lowdown on the 2400+ others: One box housing over 600 from the ‘70s and up until and including ’80-81 is highlighted by real decent ’70-71 and ’71-72 OPCs (300+ total), with an EX average and NMs in the mix. No big names but some stars and RCs (and duplication), with EX-MT Terry O’Reilly and Dave Schultz RCs amid some four dozen mostly similar ’73-74s. Approximately 150 from ‘80-81 and others from the ‘70s are also involved and include secondary RCs. Quantities from ’77-78 (625+)(mostly roughed up (VG-ish) compared to the aforementioned set) and ’79-80 (525+)(similar to or a tad below the near set; mid-grade) feature a majority of commons but with some intermittent pleasant finds. Completing is a box containing over 650 from the first half of the ‘80s; OPCs mostly but with some 150 Topps representatives from ’81-82, including sharp Gretzky and rookie cards, with other stars and RCs from other years also up there condition-wise – check out our numerous images. Lots of analyzing and sorting is coming your way if you come out on top of the bidding here.
