Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
Intriguing to say the least is this all-Canadiens batch of collectible cardboard, with much of it picturing players on their rookie cards and graded and encapsulated by ACA, a Canadian firm. It’s interesting that one would slab several of the cards, given their not-all-that-thrilling condition, although ACA’s thick sturdy holders are rather impressive to hold. Contributors to numerous Stanley Cup championships are those shown in our opening shot, with a 1951-52 Parkhurst Gerry Couture RC a decent 4 VGEX example and joined by rookie cards (ranging from 1 POOR to 3 VG) of Pronovost, Ferguson, Lemaire, Savard (Topps), Gainey, Carbonneau and Chelios – oh, the memories! Four-time Cup champion Pete Mahovlich (3.5 VG+) is pictured as a Red Wing, while other encapsulated RCs are those of Larose, Lambert, Chartraw, Engblom and Langway, some of them achieving 6 EXMINT recognition. Goalies Charlie Hodge and Ken Dryden, ’72-73 action shots of Cournoyer and Frank Mahovlich (PSA EX-MT 6 and PSA NM 7 respectively), and a ’68-69 OPC Jacques Laperriere are non-rookie cards that are graded – please check our images for the various grades throughout. Most noteworthy among eight raw cards are Guy Lafleur’s ’72-73 Topps issue (EX-MT+), a ’74-75 OPC Steve Shutt RC (creased – VG) and a rather scarce ’67-68 York card picturing Cournoyer, Beliveau and Mahovlich (VG+), with no creasing affecting the swell image. All sorts of options await you if you click, click or tap, tap....and score! *The holders have been well cared for, with only a couple of light scratches to mention.
