A special type of “Crazy Eights” card “game” comes to mind with this exemplary batch of encapsulated 1961-62 Topps cards, dominated by PSA NM-MT 8s and the competition surely to be more heated than the popular/conventional game – this is a rather serious assembly. One MINT 9 condition leader is #41-Bob Turner, while a notch shy of MINT at NM-NM+ 8.5 are seven cards; 33-Balfour, 42-Black Hawks Team, 48-Sullivan, 52-Cahan, 54-Prentice, 57-Gendron and 65-Worsley Action. The crazy lineup of 8s is thus led by then-Stanley Cup champs Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and Glenn Hall and the important rookie cards of Jean Ratelle and Rod Gilbert. Bucyk, Harvey, Worsley, Bruins and Rangers team cards and RCs of DeJordy, Stapleton and Dallas Smith also contribute to the big stack of NM-MTs. Just one 8 has a (MC) qualifier; 64-Meissner/Worsley Action, while at NM 7 are 2-Green RC and the (#66) Checklist. Completing are 38-Hillman RC (NM 7 (MC)) and 1-Watson, the latter receiving a mark of 8 NMM from KSA. The holders are in admirable condition overall; just a dozen exhibit an obvious scratch/scuff or two, with Hull and the checklist among them. Two others have a cracked corner; 30-Wharram and 31-St. Laurent, with the former missing a piece along the bottom edge. Finally, we count 16 holders of PSA’s most recent variety. Those are the pertinent details – all you have to do is decide just how crazy you want to go to acquire this inviting gathering.
