Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022

A stirring assembly of encapsulated beauties is to tempt you with here, with the cards originally available in Parkhurst packs the same season as the Montreal Canadiens won their still-record fifth consecutive Stanley Cup title. For the fourth and final time, it was the Habs and Maple Leafs starring in Parkhurst’s 1959-60 hockey card effort, with considerable effort going into building this wonderful high grade extravaganza, led by a MINT 9 example featuring Jacques Plante, who that season would win his fifth straight Vezina Trophy. The MINT 9 roster also includes three none-better-in-the-history-of-PSA entries; 22-Ken Reardon (pop 14), 39-Henri Richard (pop 13) and 47-Frank Selke (pop 11), along with 16-Hodge, 23-Horton and, remarkably, the last card, 50-King Clancy. It’s relatively easy to sum up the rest as other than Carl Brewer’s (#3) rookie card at NM 7, ALL have been deemed worthy of NM-MT 8 status. The Hall of Fame lineup includes Rocket Richard, Beliveau, Harvey, Geoffrion, Moore, Johnson, Blake, Mahovlich, Armstrong, Bower, Stanley, Olmstead, Duff, Pulford and Imlach – what an era – with Plante (card #1) and Bower also featured on “in action” cards. Other noteworthy aspects to mention are the number of recent/most recent PSA holders – 18 - and that old or new, the holders in general have been well cared for; we spot just ten with an obvious but not drastic scratch or two, while scratches and scuffs affect that housing the Tim Horton card. Enough said – check out the cards, the pop numbers and your lists and decide whether these charmers will be coming your way!
