Jacques Plante's important and coveted rookie card indeed headlines this set of ever-popular 1955-56 Parkies, having recently been examined by SGC, with "6" joined on the label by "EX" and "NM". An unblemished surface and the legend's lunging image are a treat to behold, with light corner wear more obvious, of course, at the two "red" corners. One other encapsulated contributor is Syl Apps' Oldtime Great card that achieved a mark of 7 NM. The rest of the ensemble is a pieced-together affair, with approximately half without creases but with enough corner and other wear to send them to the VG, VG+ and VG-EX realm. Half a dozen make it to EX or a tad higher, including 9-MacDonald RC, 52-McNeil, 53-Talbot RC and 68-Selke (miscut on the back), while 44-Beliveau (VG+), 43-Geoffrion (VG) and 78-The Montreal Forum (VG) are best among the more important cards. The other biggies are amid those not making it to VG, with most notables being 1-Lumley and 3-Horton at F, 37-Richard (G+) and 45-Harvey (G), with 79-Maple Leaf Gardens affected by elastic band indentations and warping but otherwise a respectable VG-in-appearance example. Noteworthy creased lesser lights are 18-Duff RC (P), 23-Broda, 59-Hainsworth and 63-Durnan RC. We spot eight with clear glue residue on the back (three action cards), while a half-dozen have classic wax/gum stains on the reverse. Led by Plante and numerous Canadiens and Maple Leaf Hall of Fame greats (and the buildings they helped make famous), '55-56 Parkhurst sets are always great! to acquire and check out.
