Helping the Maine Mariners capture the Calder Cup in 1983-84, defenceman Mike Hordy spent two seasons in the AHL with the club, and we offer a trio of Mariners items from his personal collection. Included, we have Hordy’s 1983-84 “Maine Mariners Best Defenseman Award” trophy, 1984-85 Northern Division Champions plaque, and 1983-84 Mariners framed team photo. First, the trophy is 17” in height, with a mounted generic player over a stemmed trophy bowl and tiered wooden base with engraved mounted plaque. The particulars are engraved to the plaque including “Maine Mariners Best Defenseman Award”, “1983-84” and “Mike Hordy” (there is wear to the mounted player and along edges of the bowl). The plaque is 10” x 15” and features finished wood in the shape of the state of Maine with mounted logo, skate/stick motif and engraved plate, with the particulars to include “Maine Mariners Booster Club”, “1984-85 Season”, “North Division Champs” and “Mike Hordy”. The team photo is approx 11” x 14”, and set in a homemade hockey stick frame to full dimensions of 18” x 22”. A signed LOA from Mike Hordy will accompany.
